Baylees Fishees is very selective with
the dry goods we offer. We like to consider our products "Hobby Stock".
You may find a few select items that you might find locally at your LFS, but we
mainly carry items hobbyists want and need that the local stores may not carry.
We realize that hobbyists have multiple tanks that require bigger pumps, sponge
filters, and bigger jars of food. We also realize the cost in buying those
bigger quantities and do our very best to offer the highest quality at an
affordable price.
|
Baylees also offers a few private label
products to save you even more money. We as well as many members in the
hobby consider some of our brands better than the store brands and the best part
is our brand is cheaper.
HIBLOW PUMPS -
Quite possibly the best linear pumps on the market. These are linear
diaphram pumps which makes them far supierior to regular linear pumps in
about every aspect. Typical linear pumps work with a magnet that
shoots the piston forward to produce air and a spring to return the
piston. Over time, the spring wears out making the pump lose
efficiency and pressure. HiBlow pumps do not have that problem
because they work with a piston and two diaphrams. The magnet shoots
the piston in one direction creating air, and then the magnet shoots the
piston in the opposite direction creating air. Since air is created
in both motions, and there are no spring to wear out, you never lose
efficiency or pressure. HiBlow pumps also have a safety feature
built in to save the motor. When a diaphram wears out, the piston
overshoots tripping a kill switch that stops the motor from burning out.
Replacement is a snap and we don't know how long they last, because ours
has been running 24/7 for over 5 years and we haven't had to replace the
diaphram yet! The case is cast aluminum which makes these units
tough. You can chuck them in the middle of the street and you won't
break them, but with these, you won't want to chuck them in the street
like those others on the market. You can not compare the stats
of these pumps to others either. Trust us when we say, these things
push air. Of course it depends on several variables like number of
tanks and depth of tanks, but a good ruel of thumb is what ever the model
# is, that is your stone count. For example an HP80 will do 80-100
stones and an HP100 will do 100+. Now for the absolute best part.
These pumps are ULTRA QUIET. No more spousal complaints and we take
the small ones to shows and set them up in our hotel rooms and sleep like
a baby. These pumps are Cadillac's of the industry and are even
perfect for outdoor ponds. |
| MALAYSIAN DRIFTWOOD -
Malaysian driftwood is close to the most perfect aquarium driftwood
there is. First and foremost, it is heavy enough that it will sink
on it's own without the need for weights or slate. This allows you
to stack your driftwood in any direction you wish and change the look as
often as you do water changes to keep the look fresh and interesting. Plecos seem to really enjoy malaysian driftwood to suck on as well as for
breeding purposes. Malaysian driftwood will help aid in softening
your water and will provide great places for plants to grow on and fish to
hide in. Maylasian driftwood will turn your water a natural "tea"
color as it releases tannins, but it is recommended that you soak your new
pieces to release the initial blow of tannins. Some hobbyists and
even fish, enjoy the "tea" color, but if you do not want it, regular water
changes over time will eliminate the tannins and to speed up the process a
carbon backpack filter or diatom filter will usually clear up the water
faster. |
| SPONGE FILTERS -
Sponge filters are great for larger operations that are looking for ways
to save on operation costs.
Sponge filters ran on air, provide great
biological filtration while keeping electric and replacement filter costs
down. Sponge filters are reusable as a simple squeeze with water
changes will keep them operating properly and the "sludge" from the
filters is great for establishing new tanks. The sponges we sell
come complete with airstones to reduce noise and are removable from the
base for easy cleaning. They are perfect for fry tanks up to 20
gallons and can even be buried under gravel to increase the biological
filtration. They are like having the benifit of an undergravel
filter without the hassle. But, most people use them in bare bottom
tanks. |
| BAYLEES BETTER BOTTOM -
This is our very favorite product and turning into one of the hobby's
as well. BBB, named by hobbyists, is a special mixture of gravel
that benifits aquatic plants. When someone tells you those plants
prefer a nutrient rich substrate, they are referring to BBB. We
searched and researched talking to universities and professors to find
exactly what rocks have the micro and macronutrients plants need.
Our search produced BBB and you don't have to take our words for it, just
ask any hobbyist that uses BBB and they will tell you it is the best on
the market. It's dark color reduces stress in fish, while allowing
them to display their rich colors. The grain is small for easy root
manipulation and development. Use can use it solely in your tank, or
mix it into your favorite gravel, or use it in pots in bare bottom tanks.
BBB will not alter your water and is safe for ALL fish. Sold in bulk
and retail packs and now an even smaller grain! |
| BAYLEES JUICE -
Juice is what we use to feed our plants. Juice is your basic plant
supplement with a little kick to it. When your plants look a little
thin or weak......FEED EM THE JUICE! |
| BAYLEES IRON - Iron
is an essential micronutrient used in respiration, enzyme production, and
chlorophyll synthesis. Swords and Anubias really benifit from Iron
and a typical sign of iron deficiency is yellowing of leaves. Iron
is absorbed through leaves and roots and can be found in some substrates
and soil based substrates so the addition of iron may not be necessary.
It is not recomended to add iron to aquariums with soil based substrates
and you should wait for signs from plants before adding iron. |
